I bought mine from Argex years ago, as someone recommended them to me because the syringes came included in the price. They all seem fine and haven't had any issues with them.

A warm welcome from me too Indi.
I make my chains in sterling silver, with either paste, or traditional solder and flux, but very interested to hear how you get on with Argentium.
I've always used Alum pickle and if it doesn't remove the residue, just leave the piece in for longer and add some more alum crystals to the water. I hardly use Auflux any more, as I find the solder...
Hi Joseph,
What a terrible shame you have hand problems and that you are having to sell all your lovely tools. Its a tough decision, but sounds like the right one for you, especially as you can...
OK, many thanks for that Peter.
So, if I'm using a hand pusher type, I'd still need to hold the ball with one hand and push with the other, as only having one screw to stop them rotating is not enough, surely?
So, another probably silly question.. would this vice enable a hands free type of operation, once you've fixed the piece to be set, or do you have to hold it to make it work properly?
Thanks Sheena. Silly question, how does it fix to the bench??
Perfect timing Sheena, as I'm looking for one too, to complement my coolmorph purchased before Xmas, ready for stone setting.
Which one would be most durable ...
Hi Caroline,
Sorry to hear you are struggling - this getting old business is no fun is it :( Cookies did the same to me years ago and I complained, so they sent me another one straight in a very...
Absolutely beautiful - thanks for sharing that Dennis :ta:
I got my blue one from Proops many years ago. I did have a problem with one of the rollers being marked, but they sent out a replacement quickly and it was all sorted.
I'll do that Dennis. I've ordered a selection of piano wire, copper round and square tube and will have a play. Once I'm happy with it, I'll promise to post pics. Thanks everyone.
That is absolutely gorgeous Sheena!!! It has been lovely seeing all the progress shots too.
Those were the days Dennis. I loved them and would spend ages and ages reading threads, learning, posting and generally enjoying myself. However, nowadays time is tight, with so much to do and so...
I'm confused! When you look at the tube half that has the 'spring' in, you only have a 'u' part of the spring showing through the hole in the middle of the tube clasp, with the ends which are flat! ...
I'm just bumping this back out there, but does anyone have any springy suggestions please?
many thanks xx
Hi everyone,
I wish to fabricate my own copper and silver tube clasps, with a spring mechanism, so it clicks into place like this one ...
I didn't know that Dennis. The Lactona is the one I have, so will keep your alternative one in mind, as I've nearly broken mine several times, forgetting its on my head!
Thanks for the recommendation Dennis and at a really good price too!
Nooooo, don't you dare! Surely you can measure the OD of the hollow sheet and form some more silver sheet around something to fit the profile ring? That's what I'd do, or have a go at making a...
Is it yours, or a customers?
If its yours, I'd re-melt and turn it into something else! If its a customers, I'd say no. as I haven't a clue how to repair it, though I'm sure someone will come...
I use Town Talk silver sparkle tabs, which I put into each ziplock bag and have never had an issue with tarnish. Some packaging gives off chemicals which makes items tarnish quicker and I think the...
Hi Kim,
Sadly, yes it has. I think a lot of the regulars are on FB now, which I'm not, but I used to enjoy seeing what others had made.
Hi Kim,
A warm welcome from me too and I loved watching All That Glitters and pleased you learnt so much from it. (I definitely wouldn't have liked being filmed, but would have relished the...
